Ok lately my SHO has been acting wierd. It likes to stumble while driving. Mostly it occurs under a steady highway speed. But it has known to do it while accelerating. What happens is, and it doesn't always happen, is the engine jerks after the RPMs momentarily fall. Not to 0 RPM, but they fall, it jerks after the RPMs have fallen and regain. It has never happened more than twice in a row. Sometimes it isnt as noticable. When the RPMs regain it is fine. This problem is relatively a new one. In the last year i have replaced the ACT, BAP, and CAM Sensors. Plus I recently replaced the DIS which was in tough shape. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? I'm thinking it is the CPS sensor but I am not sure of the symptoms of a failing one. I am gonna pull codes to see what might be causing this.

Thanks
-Seth

Your car's condition sounds more like a spark misfire due to faulty wires or plugs. You should check for oil and water in the spark plug wells and confirm that you have the correct Motorcraft AGSP32PP plugs gapped to the correct .042"-.046". If you have an EPROM chip installed, you should check its contacts by touching the chip while the engine is running. If the engine stumbles, you should remove the chip and clean the contacts.

Has the CHECK ENGINE light come on during any of these occurrences? If so, you really need to check the codes for the culprit. Even if you haven't seen the light, you should check the codes.

No the Check Engine Light has not come on when it occurs. I usually have to clean the plug wells once a year. It has been about a year since I did them. So I'm gonna do that today and check for codes. My car hasnt been modified so the EPROM chip not a possibility. I'll post what I find. I am almost sure it is oil in the plug wells cause i know the rear bank really fills up.

it is almost definately the plug wells. what you need to do is go to www.autozone.com and order the felpro gasket set for 72.99. this replaces the valve cover gaskets and plug well seals so that they don't leak of oil. In order to do this, the intake and the valve covers have to be pulled off. This will last generally 60,000 miles before they fail again. Beats having to suck it out every month or so. Replace ur spark plugs and wires if it has been a while.

It sounds to me like your CPS. I had the same exact symptoms and it was my Crank Position
Sensor. About a week after the falling tach, my CPS just quit on me.

Okay, I cleaned my spark plug wells again, last time i did it was about a year ago. Low and behold they were filled right up and some were over the spark plugs. Sucked out what i could. Removed the sparkplugs and regapped them. Cleaned everything with WD40 and put everything back. So far so good. One thing that should have signaled me to check the plug wells was my car had the tendency to stall when i push the clutch in with the AC on. Well see how she runs...
