Well, I just got off the phone with my mechanic and at 122,000 miles, my car is dead. It threw a rod and I have now come to the end of the SHO road. I really loved my car (my second SHO) and I'm kind of lost on what to do. It has many mods and looks great and I have no idea wether I should try to rebuild or not. Any suggestions (i.e. cost of rebuild, buy another one, move on etc.) from you guys and girls would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Sorry to hear about that. I don't know what I would do if my SHO died, especially like that. If you do decide to part it out, hit me with an e-mail at [email protected]; I need a Y-pipe and could give you a good offer on yours.

No, you're one of the closest SHO owners to me. There arn't many pa people on here. im sorry to hear about your car and hope everything works out for you. I've never really heard of engine failure with the motor. I guess there is a first for everything, sorry about the bad luck

Yeah, you can get 3.2 long blocks for like $500-700 and supposidly they are fairly easy to dump in... There's a link on how to do it at shotimes.com

If you have a lot of mods and the car still looks great, you should drop in a replacement motor and keep her going. It would be a shame to take a nice SHO off the road. You should be able to get a good used motor and have a shop do the swap for $1500 max. I doubt you could buy a decent replacement car for that kind of money (although, if you parted her out you might end up with another grand, but what a pain!). Your decision. Good luck.

Totally feel for you man. Happened to me 4 days before I was supposed to leave for the convention last year.

I concur - if the car's in decent shape & you want to keep her, engine swap, and while you're at it, consider the 3.2L.

Best of luck!

REBUILD!!!!!!!!! If you get rid of it, your gonna go through a major withdraw and you'll always look back and regret it. And in all seriousness, another car will cost just as much.

Put a new engine in it. For what it will cost to drop a rebuilt engine with 0 miles in, a new car would still have 80k or probably more miles on it, you wouldn't know how it had been treated, and would probably be in need of repair or die again soon itself. New engine is definitely the way to go with it.
