Ok, here is the deal. I just did a timing belt, water pump, crank sensor, cam sensor, and new drive belts. I did all of this because #1 it was due, and I was getting PIP codes.

Since I have re-installed everything, I have a scratch/click/itch noise from the timing belt - crank sensor area. It is rythmic (sp) with the speed of the motor. I did have to re-gap the cps the first time I installed it, because I did not know any better and it did not run the first time. And I cracked the middle timing belt cover, so for now, it just has the bottom cover on until I get a new set of timing covers.

I guess my main concern is, I had no issue with the tensioner for the timing belt, it seemed to be in great condition. And she now runs fantastic. But is my noise, just me being paranoid and not having a cover to muffel the sound. Or do I need to check something in perticular.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Are you sure it's not coming from the accessories? Take off the belts and spin each one. Put pressure on the pulleys to check the bearings while spinning them. DOn't forget to check the idler pullies too.

If that doesn't work, perhaps the timing cover is rubbing the belt... take off the timing cover and look for sign of rubbing.(I know its a PITA, but hey...)

The sound you describe is weird. If it's rythmic, it could be the belts.

Also, what kind of waterpump did you install? Reman or new? When you take the belt off, check it for play and bearing noise.
