Is moving the steering wheel location (telescopic) inside the car possible?

I could not find anyone discussing this, but was wondering if it would be possible to install a longer intermediate shaft from any other model Ford in a Gen1 SHO? I would ideally like to have the wheel about a 1/2" to 1" closer to have my ideal driving position. My car is currently at the shop for some transmission work and the subframe will be dropped so now is the time to do it if possible

Thanks for input

If you could modify where the column bolts to the large bracket under the dash, then sure, you could move it back, as long as the telescoping steering shaft has enough extension under the dash. It would be quite a project though. I don't know if any "longer" columns fit.

Would be easier to get an aftermarket wheel with a built in spacer, IMO. You could drop the column and look for some way to relocate the mounting bolts, but in my head, I'm not seeing it ad a easy task due to how it is arranged.

Agree, that is what I was afraid of after looking at the column, it seemed like too much work. I still like the idea of having an air bag instead of a new wheel :)

Thanks for the input guys
