I have a 91 black/mocha built in 4/91

I have "plus" hood

rod shifter (i think I read somewhere, probably here, that they didn't start using these until 6/91 except in plus)

blank center caps

Italian slicers

50/50 mocha interior

no spoiler/wing

Also:

I cannot tell if my moonroof is factory or aftermarket - it looks to be the factory (it seems to be the same as the moonroof in the 90 SHO I had and killed as a stupid kid, now I want to revive this one as a stupid adult), except it has a different switch (I know not factory) and it sometimes leaks, I bought this car in dis-repair and it has no headliner. Is there anyway to tell if it is stock? I want to get a headliner but don't want to waste the time and money if it won't fit.

half-way there, I think.
Sounds like it is not a plus to me... see my response below.

I have a 91 black/mocha built in 4/91 This makes no difference

I have "plus" hood Could make it a plus, but some non-plus cars got them

rod shifter (i think I read somewhere, probably here, that they didn't start using these until 6/91 except in plus) Plus cars before 6/91 got cable shifters as well
blank center caps Makes no difference

Italian slicers Makes no difference

50/50 mocha interior Makes no difference

no spoiler/wing Having the wing would make it a plus, no wing = no plus

Can you take a picture of the roof, after market moon roofs generally have a rubber seal around the roof opening to protect where they cut through the roof

Not all Plus cars came with spoilers, rod shifters, or hoods. It depends on what they had at the time. What really makes it a plus is the chrome trim around the windows, and blacked out mirrors. Italian slicers would be off of a 93+ car. Canadian slicers are 91-92 only.

James

Exactly. Just look around the windows for the chrome trim.
Thought my SHO was a plus for a long time because I had no sunroof, full leather and a plus hood.
But Noooo SHOforum had to **** my little Plus dreams :-(

I have a 6/91 SHO that came with the rod shifter, plus hood and all options, but it is not a plus.

It's tough to tell if the b pillar is blacked out because the car is black, I however do not have chrome trim around the windows so i am guessing not a plus.

I recently read here that the Plusses were "all Options, "plus" the hood etc....wouldn't that make the moonroof a plus req? Or is the above statement typical BS?

From the sounds of it you do not have a Plus. When I found out I had a true Plus. I was thrilled. I drove it like I stole it day in and day out. Until I broke the motor mounts. I drive it like an old woman. A Plus is hard to come by. When good weather breaks I will begin my long, long, long overdue resto.

Back in Michigan ... again.
At this time, the only known definitive items to look for on a plus would be the chrome around the windows, body colored taurus badge on the decklid, blacked out b pillars and mirrors and the thin, metal 24v side badges. Now, the blacked out pillars/mirrors, body colored badge and 24v side badges can be easily faked. The chrome trim would be tough though, as getting it off around the windows and reinstalled is much harder than you'd expect. Also, I know some people have said they had a plus w/o a rear spoiler, but I'll be honest, every plus I've ever seen had one and I would consider it a plus option 9 times out of 10. Everything else... the fiberglass hood, rod shifter, various interior options, none of it matters as standard 91s could have those items as well. Likewise, you could have a plus without a roof or full leather, though most plus cars did come fully loaded.

Also of note: The black 91 plus did NOT have blacked out mirrors and b pillars, at least not in the way other colored plus models were. The black cars had gloss black mirrors and pillars to match the body color, whereas the other colors had a matte black finish. The white plus was also unique in that it came with white slicers. Lastly you have the green cars which were ONLY available with the plus package.
