ok this all leads back to when my car had approximatly 85K on it and it now has 100k i have had it check out by my local ford dealership they said "there is nothing wrong with your car i dont know why the CEL is coming on". now that i am in college for automotive technology i have decided to find out what is tripping my CEL. i have bench tested my O2 sensors and they were a little bit lazy. with my 02 sensors on my car i hooked up many scanners and in bank 1, the 02 sensor voltage read out was .04 volts and in bank 2, the 02 sensor was .00 volts. can these lazy sensors be causing my irratic idle ? and my second question is what can i use to clean my throttle body, i just wiped it out the carbon with a dry shop rag. i have been told to use some teflon cleaner but im not sure. i appreciate any responses. thanks.

why don't you just pull the codes? The CEL doesn't just go on to say "hey look at me! start throwing parts at me!" Every time it goes on it stores a code.

What he said. Links with instructions are in my signature, and requires the highly technical diagnostic tool commonly referred to as a paper clip! :D

i have pulled my own codes i have used 3 other scanners backing up the CEL. and the 02 sensors bench tested a little lazy. i wasnt gonna start throwing parts on at random to try and solve the problem, that is why i told you guys what i have done to test them and see what you guys think.

ok the only codes i got from pulling my own codes and from the 3 different scanners were HO2'S bank 1 and bank 2 not switching. today me and my parner hooked up one of ford special tools the rotunda break out box. i also hooked up the rotunda scanner and monitored the H02'S as i was driving down the road the didnt get very high at all the peak for both was about .25 volts and some of the time they were at .00 volts. but what gets me is they bench tested .89 volts. the ground for the sensors has a 1.6 voltage readout so im thinking i might have a bad ground ?
