Sho Shop says they are Linear, others say they are progressive. Which is it???

Also, because they are stiffer than the eibachs, do they really need expensive struts, like Koni or Tokiko to go with them?? I was thinking of the KYB GR-2, the price is right with them, but how well do they work with these springs?

Thanks,

Jeramie

They are progressive.

I also just checked the '89 - '95 Guidelog on the SHO Shop site and didn't see where they said the Intrax were linear. They only seemed to refer to them as performance springs.

And yes, you cannot use regular Taurus struts with stiff aftermarket springs. The strut will not provide enough damping to keep the spring from pogo-ing up and down.

half-way there, I think.
They are progressive - You can tell by how they are wound. Their website states most of their springs are progressive. This is what my springs looked like.

They explain linear and progressive springs, then they say they offer both for the SHO. But you are right, they don't say specifically the Intrax springs are linear, I just assumed. Maybe they were referring to the original SHO Shop Springs??

I have the original shoshop linears/koni combo on my 91 and I personally think they ride better than the tokico intrax combo I just installed on my 93. The ride is very harsh in my 93 compared to the 91 and I wasn't expecting that to be the case shrug ... now don't take this the wrong way; I STILL LOVE BOTH SETUPS thumbs_u

I have them on my car, they're linear, the pic that someone put up of the progressive springs is wrong..thats a generic intrax picture. They are liner and they look nothing like the springs in that pic, those are out of a smaller car like a honda or something

Excuse me... They are progressive springs - want more proof... Here are pictures of my Intrax springs compared to my stock springs. Just incase, the Intrax springs are the Purple ones (shinny). I installed these springs in my car as well.

Yes - the ShopShop Springs were linear and they no longer offer them. The Intrax springs are just another brand name like Eibach. Why the ShoShop quit selling their own, I don't know - but Intrax didn't pick up where they left off.

No offense taken, but the picture I posted may not have been the Taurus springs, but look very close to them.

I think the SHO Shop quit selling their springs because they had so many quality control problems, among other things. I remember some that bought early sets ended up with their car not sitting straight. Others that had them for a while had their car start sagging as the springs lost their spring rate. Yes, they looked cool because the car sat low, but they had no spring rate. The handling was not that great. That's also the reason some say they ride better than Eibachs or Tokicos. The the spring rate is too low. In a lot of cases the stock SHO springs were actually stiffer. I'm sure those that have them will flame me, so be it.

My new to me Sho Shop linears/koni's are sitting in the house ready to go on very soon. I am very curious about the ride. they are going on another 94 ATX-MTX car. Hopefully with all the other suspension crap this one will hang the turns even better than the Green Machine.
Sorry my sig is outdated, cannot update it.

I also have ss linears in my basement along with tokico fronts. I am waiting to buy the rear tokicos and bushings. I am also wondering about the ride of a lowered SHO? I have never rode in a lowered car before, so it will be all new to me! I can't wait to have my 95 dropped this summer! :)

The Intrax springs are very definitely progressive. The ride wasn't much worse than with the stock springs; they're very soft initially. But be careful with them -- even with cut bump stops I bottom the car out quite often. Time to upgrade to some real springs (coilovers). Others don't seem to have as much of a problem with travel though.

Hey Lance you think that the Intrax springs ride the same as stock almost and you bottom out????? What kind of struts do you have by the way? It seems really hard to belive. I have intrax/bondurant setup and the setup is rough not even comparable to the stock setup.

I have Konis and Intrax springs. I think the ride sucks goat ass. I can't stand it (well I do stand it, but it gets annoying sometimes especially with the bad road around here, I'm afraid I'm going to bend something). For the amount I actually put the suspension to use, I almost regret spending the money on something so "********". If I had it to do over again, I might get the same springs and Tokicos, or perhaps gone with eibachs. However, that said, I've heard Konis are really just that much better than the Tokicos- which are a fine product in their own right- and I've yet to find the limit to when the car starts to lose it.

intrax are progressive. DO NOT PUT GR2's ON WITH THE INTRAX springs. i did, a few months later, they are completely worn out. not strong enough to take the intrax springs.
