Internittent Stumbling while driving - Codes

Recently I've noticed a momentary stumble in the engine while driving. When this happens the engine light comes on. This rough running (almost like it might die out, but not too bad) stays for maybe 10-20 secs and then seems to smooth out. After the engines smoothes, the check engine light goes out. Any ideas? Fuel, CPS, wires? It's been at least 40-50k since I had the timing belt, CPS done.

Had some Codes run, but not sure if the guy did the test right. Instead of just downloading saved codes, which I thought would happen, he "ran" a test sequence where I had to start the car, then shut it down while the reader was plugged in. Here's what it got.

KOEO code 111 - no faults detected

Memory code 214 - Cylinder ID circuit malfunction (guy said it might be the spark wires arcing, not the CPS?)

Memory code 528 - CLutch position switch circuit malfunction

Memory code 542 - Fuel pump secondary circuit open, PCM/Fuel pump gnd. (guy said maybe the fuel pump or filter was bad, said to replace filter first, is Purolator a decent brand as they were out of Motorcraft?)

Diagnosis?

214 is the cam sensor. $32 at RCM.

The 111 is the cylinder ID not a " system checks OK" you can disregard that. Its only identifying the number of cylinders, 1 for every 2. A Bad CID will cause a hard start condition when the engine is warmed up...the engine will turn over but not run for a least a few long tries. When mine was bad once I finally got it to start it would run, albeit poorly but with a CE light and the tach would not register rpms.
I have an ATX so I cant help you with the clutch code, and no knowledge of the fuel pump code.
Dont rely on someone else to read and diagnose your codes, our cars are at the very least 10 years old and I generally check mine once every couple of weeks, I have saved myself hundreds if not thousands. Its easy, free, mandatory to owning a SHO and nobody is going to have better advice than some of the people on this forum.

Yeah, sounds like the cam sensor. Mine was going bad and would cause bucking and acting like it was running on 5 cylinders, then smooth out for a while. I played with the wires going into it while it was running bad and it would smooth out when I moved the harness one way or the other. I though it was the wiring harness, but I changed the sensor and no problems since.

Only takes a few minutes to change it.

Yea, I agree, Cam sensor. Also, it sounds like the guy did the correct procedure for checking codes, but you could do it yourself just as easily. There are instructions on midwestsho here:
