All of the interior lights stay on all of the time, whether the car is running or not. I have to disconnect the battery when I park and it's a real pain driving at night with those map lights shining in my eyes!

I've slammed and reslammed all of the doors but no luck. Any ideas?

Not to over-simplify things, but have you checked the interior light switch? On my '89 it's a function of the dimmer, but I have no idea how it works on the gen III.

Clean out the door switches (located in the latch) with WD-40. It may take a bit of spraying and working the latch, but eventually it will fix it.

I'll give it a try, where exactly is the switch in the door latch? I guess I'll spray every movable part I can.

open door, spray wd-40 into the opening, close the door.
do to each door.
open and close several times as needed.
99% of the time, that's the answeer.

in my first taurus, I took to dealer.
he replaced both front mechanism's.
cost $400.
two weeks later, the light stayed on again.

then i tried wd-40 insid the latch, not really knowing what i was doing.
it worked.

by knowing this trick you save $$$.

Yep, that did the trick. Geez was that easy!

When the lights were staying on, I kept thinking electrical problem ... after all, the showagon was pieced together from two entirely different vehicles. Who knows what could go wrong. With my luck, I usually guess I'm looking at an expensive and/or time consuming job.

Thanks for the help!

My lights randomly go on and off on their own all the time. day, night, evening, whenever. i cant help but think that that just might work. ive heard, and done such things at work, but for some reason it never crossed my mind to try it.

this happened to my 97 SHO. WD in the door latch did the trick. I also had the same thing happen in my '02 Harley f150. Again, WD did the trick.

Ok, where exactly do I need to spray? The latch where the door closes or the opening on the side where all the wiring comes from the harness into the door?
