Just thought I'd give a heads up to anybody that cares. I've been working on my interior ever since I got the car in February, and it's finally almost finished. I'll post some pics in the next day or so of all my work. It's nothing too great, but I think it looks good.

Many thanks goes to this forum, without it, my SHO would still be nose down in the dirt with no front right tire, a broken passenger window, leaking valve cover seals, leaking coolant, running hot, cd playerless, bent rear seat frame, almost exhaustless, moonroof less (it was stuck open for about a year!) piece of trash.

sorry the pics arent the greatest quality. they are from a single use camera. next time i take the pics, I'll use my moms digital camera.

Just so you know....

the engine bay was completely dust covered when I got the car in February. Its funny because, from far away the car looks great, but up close, oh man, different story. nicks and scratches everywhere, swirl marks, a key scratch down the passenger side door (not very deep thank goodness). But yeah, there she be, pain in the neck #2 (the woman is #1).

I've spent just about $3,000 to get that car to where it is now. Man my wallet feels soooo much lighter.....

edit: btw, how do i get one of the pics from cardomain as my sig pic? All I get is the red x.

Morpho18,
I really like the two tone accents in the cockpit. Can you tell me how you did that? ie. instrument cluster surround, window control housings, etc...

I've got the same color scheme in a 95 mtx, it's absolutely bone stock, low miles but needs lots of TLC/rubbing to become all it can be. I'd like to do something like what you did if not too expensive.

Thanks.

All of the interior color was done with masking tape, newspaper, black vinyl spray paint, an hour or two of patience to make it look good, and a few beers.

The main expense is the paint. Vinyl paint at O'Reilly's in Iowa runs about 4 bucks and change per can. I've gone through 8 cans...

For the window switch housings, I took them out of the car completely, taped the switches, then went to town. For the storage compartments on the doors, and the section where the sideview controls is at, I masked off everything that wasn't supposed to be painted black, and again, went to town. Be sure to let the coats dry in between, and I did 3 coats.

I've also painted the metal tray underneath the stearing column (don't use vinyl paint, it looks bad), the glovebox face, the center console cushion, the moonroof control panel, the entire door sill area from front to back (including the plastic behind the seatbelts up front), and the metal mesh speaker covers. I need to do some accents on the back doors, probably the ash trays.

I've also been looking into leather dying kits to spruce up the seats a bit. They are in pretty rough shape, and instead of buying new ones, I thought I'd try to hide the cracks behind a new color scheme.

One big piece of advice - BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK ANY OF THE INTERIOR PIECES! They aren't hard to damage, and some of them aren't easy to replace. Take your time, be prepared to mess up here and there and have to redo some stuff.

props on the work you have done, it seemed like the car was in bad shape when you got it and now its looking real good. You should have taken a before and after pics of it.

Yeah, I regret not taking before pics. It really was in sad shape. My parents were literraly hours away from sending it to a scrap yard, because they didn't know what to do with it.

Lookin' nice! Before the idea was nixed (by the little lady), I was going for a similar color scheme. I like it :thumb:

Not sure if you've sourced a product yet, but I found a site that may have what you're looking for: Leathermagic.com. Click on the "View Color Charts" button for make-specific colors.

If you buy from them, let me know how it turns out ... I plan on doing some interior mods soon (including dye) and it would be nice to know if their stuff works.

Good luck!

I checked out their site....they have exact color match for Ford - especially mocha, I have a hard time finding exact mocha matches.

I think they sound pretty decent.

They bought it used. It was in great shape when they bought it. The thing is, they bought it for my younger brother who doesn't know jack about cars, and beat the SHO into the ground....literally. The day he brought it home, the car was for the better part, flawless. A year later it was in the condition that I got it. The paint job is so horrid, scratches, chips, clear coat swirls....it looks good from far away, as you can kinda tell in the pics, but up close its bad. At least theres no rust!

Damn straight. I've been looking for a mocha spray dye for a while now that would match OEM. Thanks for the heads-up.
