I am working on a friends sho that does not start. The car was missing like crazy died and has not started since then. The car has no spark. I pulled codes and got a crank sensor code. We changed the crank sensor and cam sensor. Still no start. When you turn the key on the tach goes to 500 rpms then during cranking drops to zero. I checked all the grounds and fuses also changed the dis and coil. Any other advice would be appreciated. :thankyou:

try checking all the connectors on the main wiring harness on the rear bank....... Did you check your computer behind the glove compartment to make sure it hasn't worked loose for some reason....... Does it have fuel pressure? Make sure that you do have a good ground... I had a similar thing happen a couple of years ago... Car just quit, thought is was the CPS, but it was a bad ground wire that connects to the passenger side strut tower or the fender side behind the power steering .. On mine there was a two wire connector that was just loose, replaced and the car started up .

When my cid connector came loose one time it did this died and was a pain to start back up. It made a weird sounding blop blop sound when you tried to start it if you cranked it enough and gave it a little gas it would start and run fine just with no tach. But you have no spark so maybe you have a short somewhere?

guys, lack of fuel pressure does not cause a lack of spark on an engine, nor does a bad cam sensor.

op, take a good look at the connections to the pcm, and if possible swap in a known good pcm.

Checked and double checked connections and put a good PCM in still no spark.

Make sure the DIS module mounting surfaces are completely clean, and apply a coating of dielectric grease.

most likely the new crank sensor is either bad or installed incorrectly. unfortunately, that is the next thing to check out.

Before ripping into it, check the ground path from the lower bolts of the DIS to the spot on the firewall where the ground is bolted. The DIS is grounded through those lower 2 five MM bolts, so if you were in a hurry and just bolted the dis to the crossover using the top bolts, it WILL NOT START.

Double checked the ground for the dis. What I find weird is with the key on the tach reads 500rpm the during cranking it goes to zero.

As long as you're relatively certain there isn't anything obvious that you forgot to hook back up, I'd say it's time to re-do the crank sensor.

+1

Crank sensor would probably give you the weird rpm/crank issue is orientated wrong or had a bad connection, clean the connector out when you reinstall it .

Good luck, I hate the feeling of having a SHO down..
