Today I went to test my theory that a B9B in place of my X2J would provide better performance. I yanked the EEC from my 89, only to find it is a L0S reman. headbang So I try that in the 91, wondering if it is slightly different than the L0S spare I have. Here's where it gets weird:
1. L0S reman in 91 causes it to run very poorly, and sound like a diesel. It has no power.
2. Spare new L0S originally in 91 produces the same condition.
3. Upon doing a good reset of the L0S, it runs, but differently. It now is VERY rich, the CEL comes on, and when I try to move, it bogs HORIBBLY and sputters. I turn it off and...
4. Put the X2J back in, with a full reset. Runs fine.
Why would these other EEC's cause such poor conditions, especially the L0S after the reset? Could it be faulty?
For those who wonder what the **** I am doing, I am trying to test that a B9B will provide the best performance.
