If I was to buy the black interceptor grille surround does anyone know for sure if you can directly replace the police grille mesh with the SHO mesh?

Yea it just bolts on.

The PI grille is a solid cast form. The panel isn't bolt in like in the SHO mesh.

It mounts the same, had one installed for awhile. Most people install the whole thing to delete the Chrome anyway, they make interceptor like mesh that also bolts into the chrome surround.

Thank you, that was my question. It was looking solid in the pics but I wasn’t sure.
Candyman, I know they both bolt right in. My intention was to use the police surround but the mesh from my chrome grille. I’m not a fan of the large openings on the police version.
It would be cheaper for you to just paint your grille black.

Yeah, that’s where I’m at. What I was trying to avoid is the prep work getting the chrome paintable. The PI is just nice raw plastic.
Other options would be vinyl wrap it or plastidip it.

yep he was asking to transfer in his mesh though, which would require cutting and a means of securing in the PI grille.

I plasti-dipped mine. Love it. Used the whole can just on the surround. Didn’t want to have to do it again and wanted it to last against all the road debris strikes.

I should've done this to mine, I just did 3 coats and after 5000 miles it started flaking. gotta do it again now but planning to just wrap.

I did the PI grille when the GH intercooler went in, so much less work and don't have to worry about it chipping or peeling, added bonus... people see the grille and get out of my way on the highway!

Also very interested. My ‘16 lower grille is lackluster to say the least. Does the lower grille have the vertical strips? or is that part of the interceptor bumper cover?

I had to take a new one this morning, the others I had looked like crap and last night by the time I went to do it, the flash wasn't enough for how dark it was out already.
There is just vinyl over the emblem, I thought about a sticker, but I really like the blackout look of it.

I just bought one of these myself, my daughter pushed in then stepped on my mesh grille and it ripped =(. I'm probably going to cut out the ford oval when I get it before i put it in though
And THAT is why we can't have nice things.
