So this is a first. I just bolted my heads down onto the shortblock. I took my intake a part, painted it, and reassembled it like I had done about four times previously and it wouldn't fit. If I mated in one side the other side was about half an inch or less off. I took it all apart again, looked at old photos to see if I had the runners in place and the butterflies on the correct side and all looked well. I ended up bolting the runners to the head with no plenums and adding the plenums afterwards. The only problem is that it still didn't seem to line up correctly. I noticed that the rubber hoses that connect the butterflies to the runners are different when you rotate them, but other than that I'm sorta lost.

Is there something I overlooked?

I did the same thing when I re-installed mine. Then remembed that piece of advice, worked fine, then.

even then, mine took some "finnesse" to get it to seat properly. Also, make sure ALL vaccuum lines are out of the way, mine kept getting between the snakes and the fuel rail, keeping the intake from going into place.
