I recently purchased a 3.2 ATX engine and have been trying to track down a 3.0 intake. I've found a few but I'm not sure if the 3.0 intakes changed over the years. The 3.2 engine I bought is out of a 1994 car. Was the 3.0 intake the same from 89' and on??

I thought they were all the same except that the 3.2L & 3.0L CA intakes have the holes for the EGR system...

They are the same, just place a matching plate, secure it along with a matching gasket, over the egr area. Cap it off basically.

I think either the cross over tube has a different size opening or grommet that attaches it to the rest of the intake has a different inner diameter.

I would do that but I'm swapping this engine into a RWD Japanese car. That Capping the EGR off would look goofy to me. That being the reason why I'm looking for a 3.0 intake. To me, it would look cleaner to have that area clean like on the 3.0 setup.

Use a blank plate with two holes on it to bolt it onto the egr, its pretty easy.

The crossover tubes are different, and the ATX tube mounts the DIS much higher than a 3.0 tube. With the ATX intake just keep an eye out that you have enough clearance between the DIS and the hood. Capping off the EGR port is not much of a problem, so that's easily doable.

Any idea how much higher? As I said before, this is going to be a RWD setup so I don't want to have issues with the DIS near the firewall. Now that I think about it, I could always TIG the EGR area and grind it down smooth. That would probably look best.

It's about 1/4" - 3/8" higher (a centimeter or so, if you're metrically inclined).

You can always keep your existing intake, plug the EGR, and just replace the crossover tube if need be. Replacing the entire manifold will work as well, they're essentially interchangeable since the differences are small.

That's not much at all. I'm actually more worried in the clearance towards the TB so the DIS should be fine. I found a guy local selling an 92' MTX intake for pretty cheap. I'll probably pick it up and work with it. I'm going to be big on attention to detail and polishing so the MTX intake would probably give me a better starting point since the EGR isn't there to mess with.

Thanks all!
