I have a 127K on my 1990 and just disassembled and did my 60k and am going to assemble this weekend. Well my question is can I reuse the intake gaskets. Mine are in so so condition. Most of the black coating is on there and it only flaked around the outer most edge of the gasket. If I can't reuse it, are they expensive?

If the black paint is starting to chip then you should prolly replace them. I bought mine at a dealership and they were around the neighborhood of 20$ for both of them.

As long as the black coating is still on the seating areas, you can reuse them. For the cost of about $25, you can get two new Motorcraft E9DZ-9439-A gaskets.

someone ones told me that you can spray the gaskets with a high temp engine paint and that helps with any little chipping that you might be seeing. If they are chipped on the inside, I'd replace them, I know I did, but mine looked like crap.

When the black coating chips off, the sealing surface is no longer flat. Painting it just makes it the same color, but doesn't solve the flatness problem that will cause less than perfect sealing. Don't bother painting them to make them "pretty," just get new ones.
