I pulled my intake off of my 95 3.0. They have a lot of build up on the inside of them. I was wondering if this is normal? Seems a little excessive for 120,000 miles? Was wondering what would cause it to do that if someone could enlighten me! Also took the cover for the cams off and it’s just as dirty as the intake is. Also wondering what I should use to clean the cams off? Was going to use some carb cleaner after some thought not sure if that would be the way to go!

Solutions? VTA. They don't look excessively dirty to me, but it really depends on the conditions of the rings.
Inside of the short runners that you can remove were the worst. Did not get a pic of that For some reason. They are cleaned up and ready to go now. Just have to shim the valves this weekend then Pray that it runs like I know a sho should.

Now that it is nice and clean, installing a catch can will keep it clean, and it will run better since the motor will pull timing when blowby is mixed in.
A catch can huh thanks. Any perticular one better?

I use a Billet Technology catch can, aluminum casing. The only downside is it collects condensate if driven in below freezing temps, i.e. needs emptying more often. I put one on my jeep hemi 130k miles ago, and the TB and intake are still clean as a whistle.
