i recently removed the silencer from my intake and noticed a hug diff in sound but i could tell that it was alot slower. i was able to hold my friend when we raced but now i lose by bout half a car. i instaled this flex hose that i had on my other car and now it feels faster but its not as loud. so first of 2 questions. i heard that every 10 degres is like 1% hp either way, is this true? #2 is there some way i can make it so it still can be heard like it was open in the engine compartment?

the only reason it might be slower would be because of the air temp sensor in the air box it sends a signal to lean or rich the fuel mixture according to temperature.

every 7* drop in temp will net 1hp.

Unhook your battery overnight. Hook it up in the morning and take your car out and drive it HARD. Then race your friend.
The computer needs to adjust to the mod.

You want the IAT to reflect as close as possible to the original design. The factory location should be fine considering the intake route similarity. Tricking the PCM into thinking the IAT is cooler results in more fuel that only becomes waisted fuel. Race your'e buddy right as soon as your'e car is up to op temp.. Then mod accordingly.

Be careful where you put the hose inlet. Mine was close to that area and my SHO unfortunately ingested about a gallon of water; it stands as the most expensive cold air intake I've ever paid for.

That hose looks like the Spectre pieces found at Pep Boys & other car parts retailers. Try to see if you can find the Velocity Stack [or Air Horn] and add that. It smoothes the airflow and allows the air to enter at a higher velocity; the V8 SHO also uses them for the 8 runners in the Surge Tank.

Yes you need to poke some 1/2" sized holes in the hose up in the fenderwell. This will stop you from sucking up water. Actually that hose where it is will suck in a lot of dust from the wheels, I would just raise it up some. The air temp in the fenderwell is the same as ambient or very close.

different cold air intake port spot

So why not make in CAI port behind the lower grill at the bumper? I kinda wanted to run a 3 inch tube through the fender area and create the opening behind the lower grill and have in CAI hooked up to a 8 inch wide box that forced a larger surface area of air into the 3 inch intake. Does this make sense? Basically a rectangular box behind the lower grill with a 3 inch hole in the back hooked up to the CAI going through the fender and into a custom air box made with ABS plastic and a KN circular filter inside. Any responses would be great.

he had to expand the fender opening a bit to get the 3" pipe through there but yeah basicly it goes through the fender makes a 90deg bend and sucks through a HUGE filter.
