I bought a cd changer off ebay as my in dash is not working. I am looking for mounting options and also where I can get to good grounds and power wires.

I guess the trunk is my best bet so if thats the case where can I tap into ground and power? Needs to be power that is on only when the car is in the "run" position.

Thanks.

If your 94 is a factory JBL car there's 12 volts at the amps (not sure if non JBL cars the wires there anyway). Look for the black filter box between the two amps. I believe there's red, yellow and black wires there. If I recall corectly one of the colors is before the filter and one is after, black is ground or just pick up ground with a self tapping screw into the metal to which the filter is mounted. This is how I'm powering my XM module.

Why would you want it only powered in "run"?

not exactly sure what you're trying to do.. add a sony cd changer to a factory deck? or to an aftermarket head unit? ground- jsut run a wire to any exposed metal surface in the car, you dont need to tap into anything, as for power, if its an aftermarket Head unit there should be an ACC from the back of it, i used it to hook up my power antenna, then you'll have power only when the head unit's powered up... but almost all CD changers i've seen just have a plug that fits into the CD changer on one end, and the AUX-in on the back of the head unit, and this includes both signal and power... so i'm a bit confused, what type of head unit are you using? and what type of sony CD changer?

This is an all stock car, no aftermarket items. The cd changer is the FM type so it will have a seperate plate up front running the controls.

I don't have the model off hand, sorry. I wanted power while in run only as I do not want it powered when the car is off, killing my battery.

Ok guys I am out working on it now.

I now see what you guys mean about the box thing. I see I do have a stock JBL subwoofer box there only reason I new was because I was literally in the trunk and read the sticker.

I have a ground wire going to the passenger side, I found one behind the carpet that was already tapped so I put it under that bolt. Not sure what it goes to. I have the unit mounted, I drilled into the thing sheet metal right under where the back of the deck lid is, so its sitting right there when you open the trunk, horizontal mount. I hope that works? I put my fingers into those oblonged circles and did not feel any wires nearby.

Now I have a red and yellow wire on this thing, both with some inline fuses. They gave me lots of wire so does this mean I am suppose to go to the front with them? One says 12v all the time and one is 12v in accessory mode.

Then I have the unit that mounts up front for me to control it and looks like the antenna plugs into it as well?

Thanks for the help.

Wow ok I need some help getting to the back of the stock radio as well I think. If not let me know but I think I need to get back there to hook the controller up to it and the antenna line into the changer wiring.

I took out the two screws above the radio but the plastic won't come out. Am I going to have to take out the entire center console? :(

ttt radio is out via emergency thread forum. Broke the two wires in the shifter taking it off though :(

ANyone can confirm where I need to hook into for power? Near those amps? I found them. I need one that is hot all the time and one that is only in accessory.

I can't tell you for sure what wires but at this point in time it would be very useful for you to have a testing light or even better a multimeter. All you need to do is check the wires for power when the key is off. Then turn the key on and check what wire got power when you did that. Simple as that.

I found a wire that is red and goes to a connector with nothing plugged into it, runs along side a black wire. The red wire is hot all the time. Read 12.3 v or so. I am going to use that one for my hot wire, but the directions said to use the yellow wire that came with the kit to find a hot only in accessory wire. I am having trouble locating one of those in the trunk area. I am going to go buy a couple of those crimp type connectore to tap into them.

I have a volt meter but some of the wires don't go into a connector per say for me to test.

I found one wire that was not hot, went to acc and it was hot but only at like 5.3 v.
