Is there much benifit of changing the stock ignition, or would one like an MSD ignition be that much better? I haven't herd too much talk about them thats all. Someone had suggested changing my to give it a little boost..

The stock ignition, plugs and wires are second to none in the SHO - there's been no HP increase proven by swapping any ignition items. The stock Yamaha ignition is very high quality and needs not to be changed.

As for the MSD DIS-4, it ended up being an expensive 2-step rev limiter on my S/C '89. It proved no addtional HP on the dyno.

I don't think it's worth the money but I have heard you can get a few ponies. Mighty expensive. I would only consider it with a good amount of boost.

My MSD4 is sitting in my garage gathering dust. There was no real difference but if and when I get some form of forced induction I will try it again. frown
