I have an IMRC box that activates and keeps the manifold butterfly's open shortly after the car is started. (Meaning the cable is pulled by the box). I know all you guys want this to happen so you wire yours open instead). The normal driving position should be that the cable is in the relaxed position (box not activated). My box works all the time except when the key is turned off or the connector is disconnected. By having the engine running and standing next to the car and connecting and disconnecting the connector, I can activate the IMRC box. THe cable works just fine and nothing is broken or frayed. Apparently there is an issue with the box receiving a false signal that the engine is above the 3400 rpm mark. The possibilities would be either the PCM is faulty for some reason, or a possibility that one of the heated oxygen sensors is dead which is giving the PCM a false signal, which in turn is giving the IMRC a false signal to open the butterflys. Also, simply wiring the butterfly’s open should give a “Service Engine Soon” light on the dash and issue a DTM. I don’t see anyone mentioning that they are living with yellow lights on the dash. My engine runs rough at idle now because of this (getting too much air) until it warms up. Performance should be poor in this condition, but I don't see it happening. But I hate this rough running issue. Any thoughts?
