Is there some kind of ignition **** switch that feeds the ignition system? If so have you ever heard of one of these going out?

By CPS do you mean Crank or Cam position sensor. In either case the Cam pos sensor is new. Replaced today and the Crank pos sensor registors when the engine is turned over. THat means it's OK, right?

well just because it the tach registers 200-300 rpm, doesn't mean that the cps is good. I know people will tell you that there is no way the tach would register, but i have heard a lot of cases where the tach will register 200-300 while cranking and it turns out the cps was bad. It happened to me.

Several months ago I had a problem with it dying but it would start right up. Then it was fine for a while about 3 or 4 months.
