For the last couple of months, my ignition switch has been mechanically been off. When you take the key out, the key in ignition bell continues to sound. If you turn the **** , it moves a little and the bell goes off. Another problem is that the key doesn't unlock the mechanism all the time. Sometimes you have to pull the key out and re-insert it to be able to turn the switch and start the car.
( As a note, this all started after the car was vallet parked at a famous Hollywood comedy club. I wonder if some one tried to mess with the switch ? )

Is it diffucult to fix the switch, or do I need to replace it ? if it is replaced, do I need new keys ? Where do I need to go to get this part ?

I just replaced my ig. lock, I got a cheap one first which didn't work. So I bit the bullet and went to my friendly dealer; $40 lighter I left with a new lock and a key cut to fit the door locks and the new ig. lock. Feels like new again.

johnw63, it is very easy to get that key switch out... Simply unscrew the plastic shroud that is around the column, and remove the bottom piece.... There is a small button, about the size of the top of a pen, that is located on the bottom of the key switch area... push on that with an allen wrench, or torx screwdriver, while turning the keyswitch, and voila, its out! I would look in a junkyard or something for a used one, or replace with new, but GOOD LUCK!
