Ignition Code - 94 ATX

I was driving the other day and it just shut off without warning. (94 ATX)
It would turn over but would not start. After a few hours it started fine.

211 (M) Ignition PIP signal was erratic or missing - Ignition Systems

What should be done to fix this?

This is your crankshaft sensor. Check your waterpump to see if it's leaking, if not, it's just worn out. Have fun replacing it.

Changing out this sensor is definately a weekend project if it's not something you've done a few times. And, if you're like me, it could turn into a week long project since I like to take my time, many breaks, and procrastinate like it's my job.

This is a very good step-by-step tutorial for a front 60k mile service of these motors. It covers things like water pump replacement, Cam and Crank sensor replacement, and timing belt replacement. A very good walk through with pictures that can help a lot if you decide to do any service by yourself.

Check around the site some more, it also covers the upper 60k service (changing plugs, plug well seals, valve cover gaskets, valve shim adjustment), and has a parts list of what you'll need to perform the work yourself.

You could take a gander at Mark Nunally's video... its about the 60K service (CPS installation included)

However it has a couple of procedures missing for the ATX.

Still interesting tho
