I woke up to cold temps and no electricity. My dad and I set off for work (we work at the same place) and only made it a quarter mile down my road when we encountered the first police blockade. So we took a backroad detour- that was interesting. Lines were down everywhere, and we had to get out a couple of times to move trees out of the way. It was an absolute obstacle course. We still don't have power at my house (I'm posting at work), and it doesn't sound like it'll be back anytime soon. AND IT'S NOT EVEN WINTER YET! :frantic:

Who else got hit hard?

We lost power at about 5:45am when a transformer exploded across the street from our neighbor's house. Throughout the day the power would come back on then go back off. Took losing the power about 8 times by 5:00pm before it stayed on for the rest of the day. There was a lot of branches down everywhere.

My sister lives in Southern Maine and they seem to have gotten hit harder. They lost power and aren't expected to get it back till maybe Monday.

I saw a news report from Southern Maine and a large tree split into three pieces and hit four houses. Messed one house up pretty good and also smashed the roof in of a car.

My brother is staying with me since he is from Fitchburgh. He and his wife weren't even allowed to leave their home for a few hours while the town cleaned up the mess. His Saab got hit with a destroyed mirror and dents on his fender and hood. His house is OK, thought.

My back yard looks like a battlefield and I took a thick branch through the garage roof. It didn't penetrate through and the insulation helped stop it. But as a nice little warning, a 1 inch piece of tar shingle was sitting on the V's hood. THAT would not have been pretty...

But I never lost power and I have phone and my satellite dish was unscathed so I'm good...

my yard was wrecked and our pool had like a foot worth of ice on it. luckily neither of our cars were hit, but a branch about 2 ft thick was sitting a foot away from my car. i was glad it missed lol.

cumberland and that whole area just had a lot of flooding and trees down. i know i was busy pumping out basements and cuttin up some trees all day last friday. i know north attleboro was out pumping houses out far into the night where as in plainville we only had to do a handfull of pumping for people

Finally got power back late this morning! Woooooooohoooooooooo!! :woo-hoo: :sun:

Yesterday was strange. It was a balmy 44 degrees in my house when my dad and I got home from work (up from 39 in the morning), compared to about 60 outside. We opened up all the windows for a few hours and were able to bring it up to about 50. Pretty sad when it's mid-December and you gotta go outside to warm up...

I guess I can share some pics of Acton Mass. My GF's parents house got hit hard and her father is a avid picture taker. His camera is prolly worth more than my car.

But nerveless - here are some pics......

Overview of house from the street....

And we have a Accord under a tree - Rear window smashed and roof caved in w/ various dents on a once mint car....

They were with out power for 3 days and no TV, Phone, or Internet for 4.

No word on the car yet from the insurance company and the house might have a cracked chimney from a tree that fell on the right side of the house which took out power and verizon.
