This has probably been asked but i couldn't find it Via Forum search.

I was having problems with the idle it was surging and sometimes even stalling so i cleaned the IAC which didn't help at all.

So i went out and bought a new IAC the other day and installed it and i'm still having the same problems.

the main question here is..when i unplug the IAC with the car running isn't the car supposed to die or even have a slight change in engine tone?

If i unplug the IAC with the engine running nothing happens at all not even a change in engine tone

Thanks in advance guys, sorry if this has been asked 2000x

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. And yes, the car is supposed to die when the iac is disconnected. Did you have anything apart lately that you didn't reconnect? Off the top of my head, that vacuum line that runs down to the charcoal canister is always cracking. You might give it a shot.

I had that exact same problem and I spent months trying to figure out where my vacuum leak was. It turned out that someone adjusted the throttle plate screw. You could give that a shot.
