I've been recently having drives with high idle and a few hesitated starts (intermitently through the past 2 weeks). I'm pretty sure its the iab/iac. Now i think i remember someone telling me it would be better to replace the one of my 95atx with one of a gen 3.

Any comments or corrections would be appreciated.

Ive never heard that before. In fact, it doesnt make any sense.

If you suspect the IAC is bad, remove it and clean it out with Berryman's or similar carb cleaner. Put it back on then reset the idle.

search "idle reset procedure" it used to be a sticky, but basically you do this:

1: disconnect battery to clear memory in computer (5 min should be plenty)

start car
let car run for 30 to 45 seconds (you will see the idle start to settle down a bit)
Turn on all accessories (ac/rear def, lights, radio, etc).
Put car in drive with foot on brake.
Turn steering wheel slowly 1/4 turn in each direction.
What this does is put all the loads on the car that it could potentially see at idle.

Turn off all accessories put car in park and let it idle another 4 minutes.

Take car for a spin.
