Could be lots of things. Check the rubber on the A/C compressor clutch, it could be like mine was and be completely torn apart. I took off my compressor, gutted it and stuck it back in.

I don't care much for A/C so it wasn't worth it to fix it...

pressure switch might need replaced or adjusted..
i filled mine last year and it still didnt work so i was gonna buy a new switch till when i went to remove it i noticed a flathead down inside the switch so i adjusted it till i got 25 degree a/c :)

just make sure you check the pressure dont start messing with it unless you know what your doing

Went to wally world.. I figured my friend was just being ******** or the other can was almost empty.. well. turns out the can was emptyish.. It didnt have enough to fill the system so i bought a 10.25oz can an used almost all of it. im going to check in the am the pressure. But i think that battery problem i had toasted my A/C compressor too.. when it kicks in is HOWLS.. like grinding brakes.... and it bogs the motor down when im accelerating. feels like i pull up on the gas.. I think im going to just deal with it until i can afford to replace things.. I have a MASSIVE list of shit this car needs before the convention... and i still have to send in my registration! FML

I was told that if the clutch makes that horrible noise when it engages it's time for a new clutch. I had this problem on one car and I bought a junk yard compressor. I think your clutch can grenade if you keep using it like that?
Also I dont' remember, but are you using a hose with a gauge to charge if not you should.

Gmail thanks for that tip, I never would've thought you could adjust the pressure switch. I just recharged my ac yesterday, I might mess with that switch.

Looks like it would be easier to swap the compressor. i also guess i have a leak somewhere.. it cycles on for a few seconds then off again. :/ hooked a gauge back up to it and it looses pressure fast..

Please believe me when I say it is NOT harder to replace the clutch. Both are a pain in the butt, yes, but the compressor is a MAJOR pain in the butt while the clutch is a moderate one.

Yea, clutch is pretty easy to replace w/comp off the car, but nearly impossible with it on the car.

It's not nearly impossible. It's not too bad, really. I've done two on two different cars (both ATXs). But it can be made VERY difficult with poor tool quality. Invest in a GOOD pair of snap ring pliers and the task will be made much easier. Also, remove the alternator. That makes it a lot easier, too, and it takes about 10 minutes beyond what you already have to do (and that's if you haven't done it before).

I have never removed a clutch before.. I have removed the a compressor when i did the tranny swap on my first SHO. Ill do some reading in the manual and gather tools because i never know where mine are (price you pay for having your house be the local garage)

Jason, i have no idea how to do that.

Well, to take the alternator off, you have to a) remove the battery and tray (10mm socket for the tray, and two more down there by the idler pulley... might wanna get a wrench [10mm] for those), b) remove the accessory belt (don't know how to do this on an MTX, but instructions are everywhere), c) remove B+ cable (8 or 10mm nut) and electrical plug, and d) remove 4 14mm bolts - two on the bottom, two up top. And you're done!
