Hey guys I think I've developed a problem with my 91 SHO MTX. I went on vacation for a week and when i came back my sho ran poorly and the temp gauge was around the "N" of normal and it usually runs around the "L" of normal so I shut the car down and let it cool for about 2 hours then checked the coolent level and it was okay I think I might have a bad temp sensor but I don't know where is is These SHO'S are hard to work on so if someone could give me a few pointers or ideas I'd appriciate it Oh and by the way it's for sale also so if anyone wants to buy it. Let me know   shoot beer

Mine gauge sits at the "A" when driving on the highway with the AC off. With the AC on it will climb to "R" and sit there. Engine cooling fans come on when the "R" is reached. I have a very small, unidentified, coolant leak and I think this is why my temp runs hot. Any ideas, anybody?

well, if nothing is wrong with the cooling system, then inspect your cats. take a broom and bang them to see if they are clogged. After running your car for a while, inspect the cats again. Are they RED hot? if they are, then they probably are clogged. That will make your can run like crap and your temp will rise.

If your cats are red hot, that's due to fuel being dumped into them and burning there, instead of in the combustion chamber.

Usually caused by a stuck-open thermostat that keeps the engine in warm-up (rich) mode.

If your temp range stays within the "NORMAL" range, that's exactly what it means. This ain't a calibrated system, ya know.
