Is there one on the top side of the idler pulley housing? When I was painting / cleaning stuff @ 4 am, I think i lost it.. Looks like a snap ring fits in the groove there... Front tensioner. FYI

Yes. Not REQUIRED to put tension on, but rather to ensure the bolt doesn't drop through the hole with the belt off.

Ok i just noticed the rear dosent have one at all ,but its sitting on top with a washer... strange the design is almost similar.. lol must be a Ford thing.

Well I found what i needed, LoweS calls it an E-Clip.. Gotta go somewhere else for the longer bolts tho. They stop @ 70 mm for a sholdered bolt for my tensioners / all that. When its all said and done, this will be a pretty lookin motor. I think anyway. :)

I lost mine in 2001. I just have to be aware of what I'm doing if I'm working on tensioner...so the rod dosent fall in...

**** mine was off for ooooo, I dont know... forever.. :) Only problem I had with that tensioner is one day I did a 60 on it, and didnt torque the right side bolt on the tensioner... well it backed itself out, and chewed up my shiny new gates belt in the process. :( Which reminds me, I gotta check and see if I still have numbers for those things.
