ok guys, i really f'ed up this time. i originally posted about my revvin problem, got that fixed. then i posted about my lack of the alternator chargin the battery. well, lets just say that i found the problem. i decided to take the car to autozone and have the battery and alternator tested to try and narrow down y my car not chargin problem. i was hopin voltage regulator or somethin easy. well, i found the problem. i evidentally didnt tighten my battery down enough because it tilted and started grindin on the alternator belt. if that wasnt bad enough, i also didnt have the tension idler pulley tightened enough becuase the pulley is now missing. so i now have a car with no idler pulley to hold tension on the belt. Autozone had 4 pulleys match the search on my 89 SHO but none of them fit right. so now i am up the creek with no pulley. i am gonna check Napa and Ford but i am not holding my breath. anyone have any ideas where i can find this part?? i am thinkin i am gonna call Al Fitzgerald's SHO JunkYard. i need the pulley and the bolt and everything that holds it on. any info would be very helpful. thanx again.

89 is the same as 93 right? I just got a new tensioner pulley from Ford about a year ago. I don't know why everyone insists that everthing is discontinued on this car. SHO Shop insists that Ford has discontinued the flywheel and I have a brand flywheel and ring gear sitting in my garage. Any decent Ford parts manager should be able to get you anything your heart desires. Most of the time, my parts are in the very next day. I think I paid 80 dollars for the pulley. Probably a little high, but when they have what you need, you have to pay for it. I don't think you can get the whole tensioner, but you shouldn't ever need it. The only thing that can go bad is the bearing in the pulley.

You can use the Gen 3 pulleys. Either replace the entire pulley or just press the bearing out and put it in you original pulley. Get the '99 idler pulley. The only cost ~$30 at www.fordpartsnetwork.com

FYI on Ford parts for the SHO, this year has seen some MAJOR discontinuing of parts from Ford on the V6 SHO, starting around February '02. Remember Boys & Girls, Ford likes to D/C stuff 7 years after it was last used. That means 1995 SHO stuff + 7 years = 2002.

Expect it to get worse, not better. Hope the aftermarket picks up on this stuff soon.
