Back in August - I was making a left turn into a parking lot off a road banked the opposite direction - my SHO made a loud CRACK/POP that came from the Passenger front wheel. I immediatly thought CV joints - long story short - I replaced the passenger CV joint - no go... so I tried the drivers side, this didn't fix it either. Someone reccomended to me to replace the strut bearings. Replaced both strut bearings, and the car still makes the noise! :banghd: It makes this snap/pop sound while moving the car with the wheels turned either direction - could go straight for miles and it won't make the noise. The wheels feel restricted when this happens and sometimes I have troulbe straightening the weels back unless I move the car backward. the car has 154k on it ... I have not had much time to work on it, and it has been out of the picture since august (i've been racking the miles on my opal frost) :frown: Any recomendations for help would be great as I am BAFFLED as to what the problem could be.

Check your sub frame bushings asap. Has the recall been done on them? Also inspect the front strut rod and the mount where its attached to the sub frame.

I dont remember how the rakc and pinion on the SHO was set-up, but it almost sounds like rack and pinion tube mounts. But more than likley, its the control arm bushings.

I would also say subframe bushings. First make sure they are tight. Second open your hood and move the wheel from lock to lock repeatedly. Watch the engine, if it moves from side to side at all they are bad. I had the same problem on my +, no sounds, but the wheel felt restricted when i would turn left. I replaced my rubber bushings with aluminum ones and it all went away.

Check the strut rod bushings. I have a smiliar popping and those are the culprits.

How can you find out if your subframe bushings have been warrantied...is their a mileage limit or age?

FWIW, definetly check the strut rod bushings and the cups. I found my pass side cup was loose (after I tore the drivers side bushing too) I tack welded both cups and during my "under radar" (car not on road yet) runs around the neighborhood and the driveway apron the popping went away. Now I have to replace the damn bushings though, since I tore them... They do look to be a real PITA to replace the buggers....
