I have been having a lot of play in the shifter **** (2 inches) going side to side without actually engaging the transmission. I was under the car and noticed that this bushing is dried up and shrunk. Is there a direct replacement bushing, or a bolt i can replace or tighten? Any advise, i think this will really help with my shift feel.

if im not mistaken, ask sdpatt. i believe he drilled out the shaft and replaced that bushing. im thinking he installed a bronze bearing/bushing or some type of hard, but wearable material. but like i said, im not 100% sure.

The only way is to drill it out and after installing two bushings, to use a bolt and nut. Scott did a write-up on it with some pics, you should be able to find it in the search archives.
