What exactly is wrong with the engine you have? Unless something really catastrophic has happened to it it's often best/easiest to just rebuild the one that you have.

install id imagine its gonna cost more then you might think. easiest to do it on your own even if you have to rent the tools and all.
if the engine is running fine keep it in there no need to change it..
theres a guy on here that has over 300k miles on his car and he uses it as a track car and it runs great.
so unless major problems leave it

well first off the engine smokes...the smoke is coming from the belt and pullies area....the front injectors were changed becaus they were cracked..now I think the back ones are cracked cus I smell gas coming up from the middle of the engine...There has to be a bad oil leak because the whole bottom of the engine pretty much is covered in dark fluid..that smells like oil...It has got 145000 miles on it and I dont think the 60k will help these problems...and me rebuild and engine? haha...yeah...I dont think so...

If its just oil leaks all you really need is Oil seals with a 60K and it will be fine. I never heard of rebuilding an engine over a few oil leaks.

Smoke from the front pulley area can be fixed while doing the front 60k, just replace all of the cams seals and crank seal.

Smells like oil? Buy a $30 fuel injector seal kit and install them...piece of cake and can be fixed when the upper 60k is being done.

145k miles on the engine? That thing still has plenty of life left if you would replace the oil seals, do the complete 60k, and top it off with an easy rod bearing job.

What would a good price be to sell it? Well, depends who you are selling to and the condition of the car. Someone who will be having a mechanic fix all of the problems, expect no more than $500 and the car would have to be pretty damn clean inside and outside. Now if it's mint inside and out, I would pay $1000 tops and fix it myself.

You need a 60k tune up (including the upper oil seals), some injector seals, and half a case of foamy engine brite.

If you were closer, I could do all of the work for ya. I can understand if you don't want to tackle the job yourself, but if you have some mechanical skills, you can do it. There are plenty of guides and info on this forum.

How would you get a new engine put in? Whatever you'd budgeted to pay for the engine swap would likely cover the 60k and repairs you've indicated easily.

It sounds like getting the engine you have freshened up will be a lot less expensive and less hassle than replacing it.

Thanks to the voluminous info available on this site, I have 100k'd, replaced the sub frame bushings, tightened up my trans. shifting, replaced the outer tie-rod ends......things I normally would pay someone else to do. But this project was taken on ONLY with my better half's proviso of No Extra $$$$ for a 14 year old, 180k, stealth bomber. And guess what? No parts left over AND it went on a 2000+ mile vacation and got 30MPG!! Next, Ferrari wants me for their F1 pit crew? .... The message is that you can do it. Just be patient and give yourself plenty of time with no time pressure. Thanks to you all, I'm back in the performance groove and having fun to boot. Thank You

Figure on at least $1500 R&R on an engine....that's what I payed when I had mine swapped, and that's the cheapest I've ever found.

Just fix the one you got. it'll be worth it in the long run, and I'm sure all the problems you have can be fixed with the $1500 you'd spend to replace the motor, not including the cost to buy a new one.

But if you really are dead set at buying a new motor for the car, contact Ford Performance Specialists, talk to Doug, tell him you have money to burn, and he'll take care of ya. That man could sell Popcicles to eskimos, and he's got a damn good product. The only thing stopping me from getting a high comp 3.3 from his is budget. :thumb:
