Posts on EcoBoost Facebook page about a new intercooler upgrade is now (or at least soon will be) available for the SHO platform.

Now, seeing how I can't get a straight answer, I figured I might as well try here. My last knowledge was that the OEM intercooler was more than sufficient (much to why nobody has really tinkered with making an upgrade) and they are gigantic.

However, the little bit of literature I've been able to dig up about these "supposed" IC upgrades, is that the OEM unit begins to heat soak rather quickly, thus limiting the car because of IAT levels.

So again, does anybody have any info on these or has heard about them?

Gearhead Automotive is working on one. It supposed to be available within the next couple weeks.

It will require a retune since it has a larger volume. And GH tested showing only a 20F increase over ambient air temps during a 1/4 mile run. This is significantly better than the stock unit.

You have been lied to if someone has been saying that the stock intercooler is sufficient... My intercoolers will be a game changer and they have been two years in the works. The last revision was the re-engineering of the inlet and outlet tanks to make them flow what the core is capable of.... I hope to have my first batch at my door at the end if next week.

You also have EPP catted DPs, CAI, 3BAR, 170tsat, and modified exhaust right? Just trying for clarity.

Yep sorry wasn't trying to be deceptive.... I also just tested a throttle body that showed slight gains but I took it off the car to send back to the mfgr for modification. Car needs plugs though. Going to spend some time with it today.Ac50c23e239b3156c1dca2ba6dd6a356

Ok. So you recommend running a hpfp? Or can we achieve good hp with dps and your cooler? What about cel. With the dps? I live in N.Y. and have to inspect every year..

PPE catted have no issues. Fuel pump allows you to get the max out of the turbos.

Seems a bit complicated. My understanding is the LMS version is a quicker and easier instal.

I have installed the LMS... the XDI is actually easier. You don’t have to technically unscrew the TB. You can slightly bend the fuel line and it will line up fine. Plus the XDI comes with a pig tail connector for the electrical portion. The LMS kit you need to cut back the harness to free up the connectors.

I like the XDi install better as it can be done without modifying the existing connections.

Gosh thanks for this. So is cutting apart the harness the only real difference i.e. in both cases is it unnecessary to loosen the throttle body?
