I have a 94 ATX and I'm trying to replace my starter. I've read through a bunch of threads and they've all said that the two hot wires go on the outer post, the ground goes on the stud holding the starter in, and the wee little one goes on the little clip terminal. I have an extra cable. I have two skinny lil (4 ga)wires that are crimped together onto one terminal, a big ol' thick (2 ga)red cable, the ground strap(2 ga), and the skinny one(14 ga). I know both the two big cables with terminals on them were on one stud a piece when I took the starter off but I can't figure out which cable goes where and NONE of the other posts I've looked at even mention this cable! WTF! Am I insane? Is this cable supposed to go somewhere else? I really don't think so because it's way too short to go anywhere else... any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

haha, never mind, I'm ********. The big red one goes to the positive post. The two little ones were black w/ red stripe, one went to the alternator, who knows where the other one went but it was enough for me to know that they went on the same post that doesn't have the braided cable going to the starter.

free psychiatric counseling for SHO mechanics

Hey, no problem. glad you got your problem sorted out.

Jou have just successfully engaged a little known service of the SHO forum known as the "free psychiatric self-help" system. This happens when you post a question, and your post is followed by a period of dead silence from the forum members. During the delay, you figure out your own problem, and write back to tell everyone that you solved it.

Just a little extra service with a smile at the SHO forum.
