...and I have no intentions of doing major repairs to get it fixed, since I'm swapping in a new motor in the next few weeks.

The car's history:

210,900 miles
Diagnosed with crank cancer at 203,000 miles
1 possibly leaky injector
14 year old cats
Non functioning evap purge solenoid (bypassed with small orifice vacuum connection fitting)

The test limits:
HC 0.80gpm
CO 15.00gpm
NOx 2.00gpm

My Readings:
HC 0.59gpm
CO 5.21gpm
NOx 2.33gpm

Basically, I failed by a ****. :squint: It kinda sucks when you think about it, really.

Is there anything I can do to lower my NOx emissions just that little bit so I can pass?

do the atx's have spout conector, probably a dumb question, but i can't find mine

Yep, it should be right there next to the EEC test connector.

Sometimes, they hang down and are hard to see until you get your hand in there.

I find it is rare that an ATX doesn't pass due to NOx. However, the MTX has a really tough time up here passing emissions. I think it is to do with the fact that the ATX has EGR, and the MTX not...

yep, cali SHOs have EGR.

EGR helps reduce combustion chamber temps, allowing a better, more controlled burn of the fuel. Also helps the 3.2L run lower octane fuel with better results.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe NOx is unburnt fuel...

NOx is the byproduct of the combustion process. Nitrogen Oxide emissions are too high. Removing the SPOUT defaults the ingition timing to a static 10 degrees which reduces the NOx emissions. Your HC will go up some.

How much will my HC's go up? I didn't exactly pass that test by some amazing margin...
