Okay so I had my SHO towed to AAMCO to have the clutch changed out... but when the guys at AAMCO got the car last night they called and told me they couldn't get it to start. Well my dad and I just got back from there this morning and couldn't get it to start either. We noticed that as soon as you turn the ignition key on the cooling fan turns on and doesn't go off until you turn the ignition back off. Also, when you turn the ignition key ON I cannot hear the fuel pump kick on. This is a fairly new Walbro 190lb pump that was installed back in November or December... approximately 10,000 miles ago. I don't think this is the problem.

I tried hooking my little code scanner to the car but it wouldn't do anything at all. The guys at AAMCO hooked up their $10,000 scanner to it and couldn't get into the computer at all either.

This sounds like some sort of fuse or relay to me, but I don't even know where to begin. I've pulled code 542 (or maybe it was 543... Fuel pump secondary circuit failure) a few times and was told to ignore that code as long as my engine is running. I'm not sure that code is the problem either because of the fact that the cooling fan is kicking on without the engine even running/cranking over.

I didn't have much time to see what else wasn't acting right so I unfortunately don't have anymore issues to help give ideas as to what this may be. I did however check the fuel inertia shut-off and that wasn't the problem. Anyone have any idea what to check?? Does this also sound like a relay???

If someone could please help me out ASAP I'd really appreciate it. And if anyone is using AOL Instant Messenger you can IM me... my screen name is GhouliesAreGo27

Thanks!,
Andrew

Sounds like you are having some issues with the CCRM. This module is mounted at the front of the car just above the radiator fan. It controls all the things you are having problems with. The fan, the fuel pump, power to the PCM so you can pull codes. If you can find a spare one swap it out and I bet you'll be good to go.

if the fan is kicking on when you turn on the key it is a sign of the computer in the car not being seen or not functioning. Much the same way if an LPM chip is not being read properly by the car's computer, it goes into a fault mode, and turns on the fan but won't start. When they hooked up thier $10,000 scanner, did they get any response from the computer at all?

There is a small barrel connector over by the battery that provides power to the computer, make sure that is connected, also trace the wire back to the firewall and make sure there are no fuseable links or anything like that. Its rare for a SHO computer to die, but you may want to find another SHO computer from a forum member and try swapping it out.

Really sounds like a computer issue to me.

92 No PCM POWER

Check for a blown EEC RELAY or IGN COIL fuse in the engine compartment fuse box.

As pointed out, if the EEC does not receive power, the IRCM defaults the low speed fan to ON.

Verify power loss to the IRCM by checking for battery voltage at IRCM pin 8 (VIOLET) ALWAYS HOT. If power is present, check for voltage on pin 13 (START or RUN).

Power to pin 8 is routed through the EEC RELAY fuse.

Power to pin 13 is routed via the ignition switch through the IGN COIL fuse.

That should get you started.
