I bought a solid "front" motor mount from this guy. I tried to install it on my SHO and it didn't fit, the bolt holes where different.

So, I called him up asking if maybe he sent me a wrong motor mount and this was the reply I received, "Brian, you are the one who always has SHO's different from everyone else, the mount F'ing fits. The mount I sold you is a front mount. They work on all the ATX's. Bye."

After that, I called back, "Mike, this mount doesn't fit. I pulled out the front and it's fatter than the one you gave me. It looks like a rear." Him, "No, it's the F'ing front mount. Period. Learn how to install a motor mount." Me, "Well it's different and not the front. If you don't believe me I'll give you back the mount and I want my money back." "Oh, okay. Well go ahead and put it in the rear, then bring me your front mount, I'll reinforce it for you at no charge, but it will be a couple of days before I can get down to the shop." Me, "Well I can't take it up to you, I need my car." Him, "Just bring it. Bye"

With the way he talked to me over the phone, I didn't know what to do, take the mount to him and risk him keeping it for core and not believing me.

With that said, I could not afford to have my car down for days. At the time I only had that SHO running and had to have transportation to work. So, I made my own reinforced mount that same day, with a better design so it can sit flush on the subframe. After that, I called him up and told him that I did my own and wasn't going to bring the front one. His reply was, "So you bought my mount and STOLE MY F'ING DESIGN TO MAKE YOUR OWN?" Me, "No, I simply needed my car drivable asap and your way was not the way. I would lose money and not even be able to take you the mount or get it back, much less go to work. Plus, you don't have to pay out of your pocket to do my front mount. And the way I did the mount was different from yours." Him, "I told you I was going to do the front for you at no extra charge, just had to bring the mount." Me, "Well I have a job, kids, and a car that needs to be drivable." Him, "You're a f'ing idiot."(click)

This is one of several bad dealings he has made, from what I have been told.

BTW, I even offered a choice of core back, a mount or the $25 he charges for each mount. His reply was, "I don't want your f'ing money. You stole my design and made your own." There was more to that, but I deleted it from my cpu, so I cannot quote the rest, but it was ugly.

I've heard a tale or two, but this is the first time it's been openly substantiated by anyone. It's surprising that a small business owner, especially one catering to such a tight knit community such as ours, would have such a demeanor, however, such is life. Thanks for the heads up on how Mike really does business. :thumb:

I've heard of 3 other situations he has had with one, that was basically the same outcome. Not to mention, when I bought my Fidanza from one of his group buys, he got all huffy puffy when I asked why the friction disk was 9.5" and not 9.75", like the clutch disk. Respond, "Just bring the F'ing flywheel back and get your money. You obviously have no clue about engineering. Fidanza engineered it to be that way and is a great design. Now come bring the flywheel back, because I will refuse to do business with someone who is going to address the public about my business and products, openly."

I'm sorry, but that is not great engineering and I refused to bring the flywheel back. Not to mention, I was charged the same exact cost as others, who he had to ship out to. I came to his door so he didn't have to ship, which saved money, and he didn't even offer a price reduction, not even $5. He has no problem taking your money, but once you say something, he's on it!

Here are some examples of his attitude and unkind words! If this is unnecessary, mods feel free to edit this out.

Just seen this thread:

Wow, I thought I was the only one this happened to. I bought a "front reinforced ATX mount" from him. And took special time to drive to my fathers house (90 miles) who has a shop/tools that I didnt so we could install it. We went to replace it and it did not fit, at all. Took me a bit to figure out the the bolt holes would not line up. I matched it with the stock front mount and they were definitely different. Not only was i disappointed/upset but so was my father.

When I contacted him about the problem he responded the same way as he did to you. With straight up profanity and insults. He called me a "little ***** that needed his daddy to help him work on the car", which was way uncalled for. This went on and on. I eventually gave up.

I will not do business with him again.

There are always two sides to every story. I have been coating intakes, making solid mounts and doing my part to be helpful in the sho community since '99 but occasionally I get people who dont return my cores or try to screw me in other ways. I dont have any patience for that sort of thing and I dont care to do business with those type of people so yeh I end it quick and blunt so you dont get a chance to screw me twice !!

And dont worry this sho stuff doesnt pay my bills :hpoop:

First off, no one has tried to screw you and there is/was no way to double screw you. You have a core charge for a purpose, that way if you do not receive the mount back. If you want to sell mounts and it is a must for you to get them back, make it a requirement. Have the mounts shipped to you before the reinforcement, or charge $200 for a core charge. And to top it off, I offered you a core charge back, but you refused.

Obviously, the two of us who encountered problems with the wrong mount being delivered had the same results. You sit there and tell us it is the front mount when it very well isn't. For someone who has been doing SHO business for as long as you say, you would think that they know the difference between the front and rear motor mount. I and the other member who posted, are not the only ones who received a wrong mount, in which they paid for. I have also spoken with a member who had a problem with one of your mounts and you were quick to jump down their throat. I don't see your "lifetime" warranty pulling through and feel sorry for those who bought them for that sole purpose. :frown:

On another note, I purchased a Fidanza from you and you refused to give it to me until I talked you into it. You simply made it out that my SHO does not deserve a Fidanza and you didn't like the idea of selling to me. Also, what was weird about this case is that when you didn't want to give me my Fidanza, there was another local member who you favored, wanting one but never made the group buy.....go figure.

The point and fact is this, you do not like the younger bunch of SHO guys and do not like to supply parts that make their car look better or add performance. Now, don't sit here and tell me the opposite. That night when I went to pick up "my" Fidanza, after talking through with you to hand it over (seemed like a damn negotiation) you sat there and told me that you hate the fact that these cars go into the hands of younger kids. You will not even powder coat my intake, nor did you want to do it for Kenny in return for a new clutch kit and seals. Why? Because I bought the SHO that it was intended for and when Kenny received the intake I was going to buy it from him.

If you want to end something quick and blunt, you might want to consider doing it in a "professional" way. Plus, it doesn't mean anything about what service you have offered and for how long. It does not mean you are a perfect seller; look at SHOShop for crying out loud. There has obviously been others who have had very bad experiences with your dealings.

FWIW, Mike has always shot straight with me. He purchased the cowl hood and wheels from the turbo SHO, and is puchasing another hood (CF GEN I) from me right now. SOrry your experience has not been what you expected, but I would not hesisitate to do further business with Mike in the future.

I've never had any problems with Mike. I've installed 3 or 4 of his ATX mounts without problems. He even warranteed one that failed. I've seen his powder coating work on 10 SHO's and they all looked first class.

I'm with Tim on this one. Mike has been around for a long time, and has done some incredible work for for many a happy SHO owner. I'm too poor to upgrade my SHO, but if I ever had my intake coated, I wouldn't even consider having it done by anyone else. Sorry you had a bad experience, I hope it can be resolved to both parties' satisfaction.

Mike is TOP NOTCH!

Gentlemen..

It is easy to get on an internet board and start bashing someone for some misunderstanding or misapplication. I have done business with Mike for years, in fact, I was the FIRST sho intake to be coated and SHOwn off to the community here! The quality of workmanship has always been top notch, he is always willing to help a friend in need, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from him or do business with him in the future. :thumb:

The thread starter has every right to post his bad experience with this vendor, your experience with him was positive as with some others, but some may not have had the same, for those the feedback is welcome here, besides Mike may not be all that upset over it he is getting free advertising as he is not a paying vendor.:nut:

In all fairness to everyone here. This is a section where both good and bad feedback can be left. There are quite a few people who have had great experiences with Mike and apparently a few who haven't. We're not going to let this section be turned into one where people duke it out, that's not what it's here for. Several have made their complaints and several have stated their pleasure in doing business with him, nuff said.

I also don't see this as a bashing match. There are always 2 sides to every story, never forget that. As far as this topic is concerned, I see no use for further reply. For those of you who have had good experiences with Mike, please feel free to start a new topic. I really see no further use for replying to this thread.

Peace
