how to remove the sub outa the box

anyone have directions or know how to remove the sub outa the box i see the chrome bolts torwards the front of the trunk but the back ones i dont know do you need a special tool? I also see the ones with the standard screwdriver screws but i dont think thell help me take it out Please help the sub sounds really nasty!!!

Yes you need a socket wrench with an extension to get out the rear bolts, not sure about the size, sorry. The sub from the box is somewhat easy, I ebleive you just rip off the foam surround and then remove the screws, if that doesn't work, break out the heat gun..

To get the screws that actually hold the sub in the box, you will need a hex bit. It is not a regular phillups head.

Before I did this, I had asked someone on shotimes. I guess they did not know they made different bits because he said he had to split the box. :rolleyes:

DO NOT SPLIT THE BOX!

It comes out with 4 screws. Very simple.

Make sure you buy a sub that has a good return policy, as you'll likely not enjoy the sound you get.

I tried 2 different models (ranging from $25 to $60) before I decided to put in a OEM JBL sub from a parts car. Only downside is you're putting in a driver that potentially has already made a lot of thumps.
