I just bought a 97 Black SHO and I noticed the speakers kind of suck. I can't stand not having bass, so I am thinking of getting a new stereo system.

My system is going to consist of:
Audiobahn 2 channel amp--http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewitem.php?id=73
2 Phoenix Gold Ti12D dvc subs--http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewitem.php?id=1529#

I want to make sure before I spend all this money that I will be able to hook this all up. I am sticking with the stock head unit since it has automatic climate control. What do I have to do to hook up the amp?

Thanks, Matt

Use your rear speakers for the inputs. Most amps take speaker level inputs. Run some #8 or #6 wire back to the trunk. Be sure to fuse it at the battery.

Hey nice pics. Did it take alot of cutting to get the 6 1/2 speakers to fit? I just put some high buck 6x8s in the front, man they still sound like crap, no bass at all. Thinking about adding an audiobahn bass tube. Do you notice any difference with the new tweeters? I think the stock one add way too much trebble, but think it would sound better if I could get some bass out of the rest of the system.

For the front speakers I made a wood template for the 6 1/2's and covered it with the Dynamat. I had Infinity Reference 6X8's in the front before but didnt like the sound much either, that is why I went with the component set. I Kappa Tweets sound SO good, they have a much better sound quality and you will appreciate your music much more if you choose to change them out. I run all my speakers off of amps so it is easier to adjust the sound of each speaker, if this is a option for you I would recommend it. What kind of speakers do you have up front now?

I put Polk Audio up front. They were a little less expensive than the Infinity, but I thought they produced a bit more bass, (infinity I think had better "range", but didnt seem as low as the Polks.) and that it what I was going for with them. Unfortunately for me, 6x8s are terrible for bass, much better than the stock ones though. I still have stock rear and was thinking about cutting room for 6x9s or 6 1/2s back there. Maybe a bazooka or the Audiobahn bass tube. Im not sure yet what I should do. I am on a bit of a budget for now, and just want somthing decent. I dont want to shake windows or anything, just hear some good hitting bass.

Polk has some nice products. Holes for 6X9's wouldnt be very hard to do, I was going to do the same but I took the Kappas outta the 93 SHO to save some money. I think you could also run a free air 10" in the back deck also, it is already cut out to accomidate a sub and it would put a little more bass into the cabin. Just a idea. When I upgrade my subs I am going to put one of my current 12"s back there so I can lower the output on the 6X8's and let them relax for a bit. You can find free air subs for pretty cheap anymore and you wouldnt have to worry about taking up space in your trunk. Have you thought about where you are going mount you amps? Let me know if you need some ideas. :thumb:
