When the control selector is moved to the OFF position, the motor will continue at low speed until the park switch contacts open, signaling the motor to PARK and activating the depressed PARK mechanism which is part of the motor output arm.

There are contacts in the motor that control the park mechanism.

New wiper motor I think is the only fix. Maybe someone out there who can fix it..but I think it'd be more hastle and $$ than it is worth.

Go to a junkyard and pull a wiper motor off a donor. Probably will work beter than your current one. Try going for a newer Gen 2.

are then are wiper motors off of any other cars that could be used for our cars? I don't know how it is up here, but there arn't many junkyard SHO's around here.

Any Taurus of the same generation will work for the wiper motor.

Remember, except for some suspension changes, the engine and control electronics, and some trim/interior diferences, these things are almost just another Taurus/Sable. Many parts in common.

if they are not parking, the motor is on its way out. Eventually they will stop working altogether, and leave you with wipers aiming at the sky! Good Luck!

project sho, you are incorrect on the wiper motors. in 94/95 they switched to a single plug on the motor, opposed to the earlier, 2 plug design. This motor is a ford motor though, the explorer, vic, etc all use them. I have however seen a dual plug car converted to the single plug motor. You just need a pin out diagram and the single connector.

He's got a 91, so he has to look for a motor with 2 separate connections. Big deal. They're like 60 bux at autozone with a lifetime warranty.

There is also a module under the dash called something like 'wiper control module'. Few years ago mine wouldn't park. Replaced the switch and motor. No go. Then I found out about the module. Replaced that, and, wipers parked!

It's about 4 x 6 x 1" (from memory..) black, and it's on some sort of bracket that I broke taking it out...

Wish I could tell you more, how to tell 'exactly' if this is bad, etc, but it was the last thing in line...
