Just mask off the surrounding area and spray it with Duplicolor Acrylic Clearcoat Rattle can.

is it rough to the touch or smoothish? Ofcourse there are some compounds that will make it "a lil less noticeable", its not gonna look brand new but dont shoot for the moon and keep your expectations realistic. With a buffer there are different compounds with different "grit" i wanna call it for lack of a better term.
I'm not sure about hand applied products. Someone with some good materials and buffing know how could make it look alot better.

If you are set on not respraying the clear, I would wetsand it down with some 800 grit, and then buff with some rubbing compound. It will not make it dissappear, but it should make it better. The best way would be to sand the grain out of it and re-clear... Huntervf here on the forum has some experience with paint restoration, you might talk to him...

Not to hi jack, but i have a slight gas stain on the tank of my bike. Would anything take care of that? I have tried a cleaner wax to no avail.
