The hot wire sensor is in the small hole of the mafs - that is the part you need to clean.

how would you go about doing that, I already removed the screws and cleaned the sensor wires that come out with the plastic piece with maf cleaner

Just spray the wires. Don't touch them with anything. All you need to do is spray them then replace the sensor.

Which can? You should had specified CRC Maf cleaner. Believe it or not, people have tried to clean a MAF with electrical cleaner and ruins it.
I never heard such a thing, 99% chance the MAF cleaner is electrical contact cleaner.

I use the same electronics cleaner on the MAF as I use to clean the controls on my $7k Roland Keyboard and it works great; likely same thing as MAF cleaner; a light, short chain hydrocarbon / aromatic solvent.

I've used carb cleaner, or even brake cleaner in a pinch, you could even just (carefully...) swish the wires around in a bowl of Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA). Many "electrical contact cleaners" have a contact lubricant with the solvent carrier, and this lubricant might adversely affect the MAF's performance, but it's generally such a lightweight lubricant that I doubt it would hang around terribly long on the hot sensor wires.

Ok guys.. riddle me this... I just got a can of that for fun as I couldn't find my old one.. anyway... the can says to put it on hot wires.. soooo... how long do you think they will stay "hot" or warm ... sounds like I should leave a clamp semi loose.. run the car, **** it, unplug it, then spray it right away?

Seems a little weird.. some MAF's aren't so easy to get to.. Mine is easy where the sample tube is.. I just found it funny it said hot or warm wires... something that small would be cold in a second I would think...
