How to check fuel pump wiring.. (it was the cutoff switch)

My car just started acting like it has no fuel. It will crank but not start, and I noticed I didn't hear the fuel pump turn on. I tried priming it repeatedly but never heard the telltale noise that it usually makes.

My only guess is I must've loosened or disconnected the wiring for it. I was blindly reaching for the starter wires to tighten them by hand immediately before. Ever since messing with that it hasn't really started, although the starter appears to be doing it's job (it was very obvious when the starter wires were loose, absolutely nothing would happen). Of course it could be just coincidental. Is there any fuel pump wiring down there?

Thanks, well I tried grounding that and it didn't cause the fuel pump to turn on. I ran the codes and it said 542, Fuel pump secondary circuit failure. So it appears I was dead on in the symptoms.

If I remember correctly the wiring harness on the fuel pump itself doesn't stay together very well. I had to drop the fuel tank twice during the installation because it disconnected at the last minute. My guess is that that, or something else has disconnected. I hope it's not the electrical quick connector for the fuel pump.

Any other ideas to check?

It was the emergency cutoff switch in the trunk. Sometimes it's the easy things that get me.

:bonk:

I wonder what causes that, time and groceries banging around in the trunk?
