ouch that comment prolly hurt. My sho has rust everywhere. It sat in a dirt lot in north carolina for who knows how long. Meaning it sat in sand. i cant jack my car up from the side rails!! I got rust under the battery and under the airbox. Completely rusted through. The rust hole actually helped me when i was taking out the silencer cone. DONT GIVE UP!! i have had my sho for a month and i still dont have tags. im 17 and all my money goes to it. Im having my friend replace the rust holes after i knock all the old stuff out like stated above.

What's wierd is that the cars in this thread, with rust, are Green! Hmmm...maybe Ford will have a recall and repaint all our Deep, Forest, Emerald, Jewel Green cars! :slap:

I never really realized how nice Cali cars were untill I saw all these nasty pictures of rusted SHO's here on the forum. Growing up I was used to seeing old cars on the road with no rust on them....my SHO thankfully doesn't know what rust is...

However, knowing the kind of cars that exists without all this extensive rust damage. You would never catch me throwing so much $ at a car...that was essentially falling apart with rust....

You can still save that quarter panel. I had more rust and decided to cut it all out:

Then weld it:

After fiberglass, filler and some spray can base and clear:

A few months later I got a bodyshop to spray and blend in the quarter.

We must part ways. We can still be friends.

Well...It's with a heavy heart that I have decided to sell my 94 ATX. :frown: I've tossed this around for a while and after I added it up, this is probably the best way to go.

You may be asking: why?

A couple of reasons.

First, I would like an MTX. A 94 or 95 MTX to be exact.
Second, The rust. In my previous post, I was ready to have the rust removed. The body shop that I was bringing it to (as well as two others) took it. When they got it on the lift and checked the rest of the vehicle, they gave it back with the reason that it is "not economically feasible to repair." There is more rust than thought underneath on the body and frame. I do not have the tools, time or know-how to do it my self.
Third, Money. I want to add stage 1 performance mods. Since I am looking to own a SHO for the long term, I can't see buying mods for a car that I may not want to keep in the near future because it's a ATX and the growing rust issue that I can't stay on top of. Not to mention the other maintenance. So far, I've spent around $6000 in preventive maintenance and repairs in the year I've owned my SHO (I had no maint records, so I did it all). Though I hate loosing that money but selling it, I don't want to loose that much more when I have to sell it a year or so down the road.

So having said that, I feel it would be best to put that money in a 94 or 95 MTX with no rust that I will enjoy years to come. So I am going to put it up for sale locally while I am looking for a replacement. I am selling locally because I'm going to try and get as much as I can. No one here would pay what I want. Don't get me wrong, I am going for full disclosure. I have time on my side to find the right buyer because I will continue to drive it on the weekends and it is running fine (with small annoyances). I am going to set up a website with all information I can give along with photos. This should be done in a week (I hope). :type: at www.94sho.info

In case you have not seen my car, click the link in my signature or check my recent photos I took.

There it is.

Well after dealing with a 93 MTX I bought cheap with a busted tranny and some rust thinking I could deal with it, I've ditched it for a clean 95 ATX again with a broken trans that I'll be swapping to an MTX.

From that here's is what I've learned/think about rust on cars. If you buy a car and it has rust on it, its probably too much. Since you haven't had the car when the rust started it probably has more you can't see and it generally means the car simply wasn't cared for, rust belt states partially exluded but not by much. When I got to stripping the 93 down, the only thing holding the drivers and passenger side floorboards in place was the sound deadening material on the inside. It was a NH car and it was a mess. The new 95 has been a GA/LA/TN car and looks much better hopefully it won't have any surprises when I get it but the seller is very helpful.

That's what I've got to add.

I feel your pain. That sucks. In my experience, when you first get your SHO, that's a time of discovery. The funny thing is, I don't when that time of discovery ends! ;)

My URL is working, I just need to make and put the site up.

Well, I put the site up today. Took me several hours to make. Sometimes I get a little compulsive :nut:. If you want to check it out, you can find out all the things you never wanted to know about my SHO. It's at www.94sho.info You may need to hit refresh if you have visited the site before.

As I mentioned before, I am not posting this to sell over the forum. I am trying to sell my car locally. If I am breaking any forum rules, please let me know.
