How hard is it to convert Gen-1 to 2 front end?

Hey all, a couple of weeks ago I went down to my Grandparents to get my green plus out of the barn to take her home and do some work on her. I got her on the trailer and started for home. Well, when I backed her off the trailer, the front clip got caught on the front lip of the trailer and badly damaged my front clip. My question is basically what the title reads of the topic. If I put a Gen-2 front clip on it, would it basically "bolt on??" I know I will have to change the headlights as well as a few things "here and there," but aren't the 2 cars basically the same thing other than the obvious cosmetic differences?? I can score an ATX parts car from a guy I know for under $200 here. If I end up with this car I'll probably keep the 3.2 and sell off the rest but I know the front clip is in good shape.
As usual, any input is greatly appreciated.

Thanx

underneath the gen 1 and 2 are mechanically the same. If you bolted in the fenders, headlights, front bumber, i think you'd be alright

You'll need to change the hood, fenders, headlight mounting panel, bumper/support, but it should bolt up.

Also, I don't know if the body lines on the fenders will match up to the doors, but they should, seeing as the doors are the same.

Also, be aware that the rest of the side moldings will not match the front bumper piece.

the entire front clip does indeed bolt on. YOu would need to use the Gen 1 ground effects piece on the new fender though.

The header panel mounts in slightly different areas but it's nothing a bit of drilling won't cure.

Just out of curiousity, based on what has been said in this thread, I could put a set of Gen 1 Ground Effects on my Gen 2?

wow. i'm suprized more people didn't know they are the same. i'd guess the genI and Gen II sho's are nearly 90 percent the same under the skin. From 86-95 nothing, other then the rear, changed on the taurus line. same goes for the 96-04+ taurus; just the rear off the unibody changed (and rear windshield)

(talking about the frame, don't bring up the interior, engines, ect...) :p
