Earlier tonight I was going over the list of people who have registered for the convention thus far.

It's unbelievably embarrassing for our region and for NESHOC that of the 30 or so people who have registered so far, ONLY 7 LOCAL PEOPLE are on the list, and 3 of those are Kirk, James, and myself.

Kudos to Bob G., Mike P., Jeannette L., and Scott W. for coming through.

What are the rest of you waiting for!?!?!? :shakehead

Christ, we've had more than 7 people show up for a breakfast.

Don has already said that if you can't pay right away that's fine, the important thing is to get the registration forms to him. NOW!

Right now, the convention is in jeopardy. We need at least 50 people registered for the NHMS track day in order for this convention to happen, and as of right now there are only 20 people registered for the track. Don hasn't set a drop-dead date yet, but assume that if we don't have sufficient registrations in over the next ~3 weeks or so that there is a good chance that he'll have no choice but to pull the plug.

Kirk, James and I have worked for over three years to make a northeast convention a reality after endless years of people complaining that all the conventions were too far away. Now that we've finally made it possible, it's embarrassing that so few people have registered.

Let's go!!! :ohreally:

Randy and I registered some time ago, Bucko.

That considered, perhaps his (Don?) list hasn't been updated to reflect the true tally. Worth looking into...

Registration forms were sent in 03/25/09 for both myself and mels.

That being said, I am FAR from surprised. Yes, it is in our own backyard, but years past active members are no longer active/interested. A lot of our semi-active members are younger and may be saving in gas, but still have a hotel to pay for.

You really have 9 with mel and myself. Which is more than shows up at most meets we have just at the shop or at breakfast.

Yes, you have other obligations.

I emailed Don to confirm receipt of me and mels registrations .... no word as of yet. But they were sent in a month ago, I have the email.

I was waiting for a consulting check to come in, so that I could send the full $ amount + registration at once.

Sorry for the late response, will try to get it in the mail tomorrow.

He is not talking about you guys (randy-mel) He is talking about all these guys who have bitched and moaned that they could put together a H U G E turnout if it was held in the NE. Now the time has come and as expected it was all talk.

Come one guys lets get things together!!! You can register now and pay later that is not a problem!

Oh, I know Ryan. I am just saying, I am not surprised at all. Many of the guys who would have been there 5 years ago have long moved on. I can list 5 off the top of my head. Many of the current member base here is younger guys who have the car because they can be had cheaply now. They are the same one who talk about showing up to everything and we never see them. You know the type, the want to get together for chowdah, but they wont travel more than 15 miles because MA is so huge it would take 2 days to go from one side to the other. :laugh_ti:

Randall's right. Just a couple years ago there were close to 40(?) cars turned out for one breakfast in Walpole - more than at any other SHO event I've ever been to...

Now, sadly, most all of those enthusiasts have indeed moved along. Was fun while it lasted though, the long-awaited New England convention just missed the perfect wave by a couple strokes. Simply a matter of timing, not any one person failing to deliver...

i mailed my form in mid march but check hasnt cleared.

Checks and credit cards are not charged or cashed until the Convention is a definite GO, which is always sometime in June.

I used PayPal (1st time Don has offered it) and got hit immediately, as sending a check in January has driven me nuts in the past, since it's never cashed until June, and sometimes my account gets a little "thin", if you know what I mean!

You know -I'll be the first one to admit that back in the day I'd ***** and complain that the convention was to far away for my liking. I looked up to all the guys here in the northeast (going way back now) that actually made the long haul down south. One person even loosing his dream on a bridge on the way back. I wanted to do it so bad but didn't have the $$ and didn't trust my SHO that was blowing through CPS every other month.

I don't have Saturdays off and I do miss out on allot of participation and hanging out with the club. It sucks too.

I walked away from a club that is family orientated because I had a grudge against 1 person and I felt that I didn't belong. Things changed, I bought a different car, and everything seemed weird.

If the days of the convention were in my favor I'd be more involved with the events. ****, I was even considering volunteering my time just to be part of the action. Now its just not feasible.
