How do you "modify" a 93 spindle?

I need to do it to some to fit my shoshop 12.5" brake kit. I might be able to get some 91 spindles to do it on (those will work the same as the 93's right?) But what has to get ground and all that good stuff to make everything fit. If anyone has some pictures of what has to get done that would be great and I would really appriciate it:thankyou:

Contact Baer and see whether they'll provide you that info, as they're the only ones that have done that for that kit. Those kits were sold with the knuckles as cores, i.e., you sent in a pair of old knuckles, you got modified knuckles back with new bearinges, paint, etc.

I'm guessing they'll not give you the dimensions, so you'll need to find an already reworked set. When you do that, just put them on the car.

So if I get in an accident and one of my spindles gets destroyed, I am SOL unless I can find another modified one? I have to be able to modify it myself, I was told it was just some grinding of the spindle to make some thing fit is this true?

If you **** a knuckle in an accident replacing the knuckle will be the least of your problems.

They're big chunks of iron, you know.

I don't have a picture, but the knuckle basically just has 2 "tabs" left that the caliper bracket bolts up to.

Your 93 used to have the 12.5" kit on it. Does it still? It should be the regular Baer kit that has the modified knuckles already. What happened to them??

They got sold, they were going to get replaced with the 13" kit but then things changed and here I am. Its ok though, now I have the same kit with 2 piece rotors, and less miles, plus I sold the old kit for 700 and got this one for way less;)

EDIT: maybe you can show me tomorrow when you're here what I have to do:biggrin:

I could take some pictures of my Baer knuckles if that would help, dimensions would be harder to get, but at least you'd have a general idea.

I have the second set of Baer 12.5" brakes ever produced, the fastener sizes and types on mine are a bit different then later production versions, but all else should be similar.

Did SHOShop's Baer clones use the same bracketry to mount the PBR calipers?

thanks man, but don't bother, I am going to bite the bullet and just dump way more money into getting the spindles then I wanted to, but I think it is for the best. I need the stuff asap to try to get my car fixed and the spindles I am getting have new wheel bearings too so its not a total loss:thumb:
