how do you know if your heads are warped?

I just wanted to know how i would know if my heads are warped. My car jumped up into the hotrange the other day when my dad left the radiator cap loose on my radiator and all my coolant spilled out. I couldnt pull over for about a minute though because i was on a bridge. This is the only time i've ever seen it overheat like this and i didnt drive it until i had coolant back in it. Is there any symptoms that i could see while i was driving it, or what can i look for to know?

Remove them and either have a machinist check them or check them yourself with a proper straitedge.
